I introduce the practical route from hotels to the gate of Marunouchi Line in Shinjuku station.
From hotels to entrance of Shinjuku station
"Labylinth" Shinjuku
Shinjuku station is one of the most complex station in Japan.
We call Shinjuku like a Labylinth, and even native Japanese often get lost in Shinjuku area.
Select appropriate gate
Main cause of making labyrinth is that Shinjuku station has a tremendous number of gates.
I don't know the correct number, but there are more than 300 gates in Shinuku.
My recomend gate: "9th gate in the west square"
I, living in Tokyo more than 10 years, strongly reccomend that you should use 9th gate in the west square if you stay at hotels in west part of Shinjuku.
But be careful. Shinfjuku station has many different gates named "9th gate". My reccomend gate is 9th gate in the west square.
Route from hotels
Now, I will explain the practical route from hotels.
At point A
You can see the intersection which has a impressive traffic light shaped by circle.
Turn right here.
At point B
You can see the appearance of Shinjuku station.
Here, don't try to walk toward the buildings, or you will get a lost and consume a lot of time.
At point B, you can find a gate to underground. This is my reccomended gate, "9th gate in west square".
Don't hesitate to enter into Underground of Shinjuku Labylinth...
From entrance to gate of Marunouchi Line
Welcome to the Shinjuku Labylinth
Move inside Shinjuku station is quite difficult even for native Japanese.
My wife usually gets lost in Shinjuku.
I will show the correct way using photos.
Down the stairs
Turn left, and go along open area on your left
Go straight through crouwded area
This move is the most difficult. Be concentrate!
Turn left at the Starbacks sign
Go straight along Godiva counter
Find sign of Marunouchi Line
Go straight, then reach to the gate!!
